APRIL 23rd
EVENTS
April 23rd 2002
Children around the world have Atatürk to thank
for the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children’s
Day holiday. We at POLISAN
stood with children on this special day..
On April 23rd, we organized a variety of fun events
aimed at children at a number of hardware stores
in Istanbul. Our aim was to help children enjoy
their April 23rd holiday and to “put a smile”
on their faces. Children who visited the POLISAN
Paint stand at hardware stores enjoyed playing
with clowns and had their faces painted with the
‘Smiling Face' Logo. Children also enjoyed themselves
at the POLISAN Paint
rodeo at Kozyatağı Bauhaus and at the POLISAN
Paint train at Beylikdüzü Bauhaus.
POLİSAN
is there for children from the Nesin Foundation
!
POLİSAN—in addition to many other individuals,
organizations and NGOs—attended a celebration
organized by the Nesin Foundation in aid of children.
POLISAN Paint provided
the paint that was used to paint the rabbit hutches
in the Nesin Foundation garden and joined in wishing
the Nesin Foundation and Çatalcalı a happy April
23rd holiday..

SCHOOLS
Another
school from POLİSAN!
July 13, 2002
In 1988, we commissioned the construction of the
Hacı Mehmet Emin Bitlis Primary School in Malatya.
The school has been reopened after having been
adapted in line with the 8 year primary education
system. Construction of the building began in
2001. The building will also serve as a cultural
center.
The opening ceremony
was a part of the Malatya Fair and Apricot Festival
and was attended by the Governor of Malatya, Mustafa
Yıldırım, Mayor of the Municipality, Mehmet Yaşar
Çerçi and our Chairman of the Board Necmettin
Bitlis.
The original main
building constructed in 1988 by POLİSAN
featured 5 classrooms, a computer lab, a chemistry
lab and a sports hall. It was nominated for the
Agha Khan Architecture Prize. With the construction
of the additional building, the Hacı Mehmet Emin
Bitlis Primary School now has 8 classrooms each
accommodating 35 students, a music room, a work
technique room and a cafeteria. The school’s approximately
1000 students will be able to receive 8 years
of primary education using dual instruction.
POLİSAN Chairman
of the Board Necmettin Bitlis gave a speech at
the opening ceremony, stating that his family’s
commitment to education was passed on to them
by his grandfather. Bitlis added that his family
felt privileged to be able to support the 8-year
primary education system, which he sees as Turkey’s
greatest need.

POLİSAN and the next decade
of interior architecture!
June 18, 2002
The Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and
Architects (TMMOB) Chamber of Interior Architects
organized a seminar entitled “The Next Ten Years
in Interior Architecture” with the aim of bringing
together their members and the companies that
are active in the sector. The seminar was held
at the Chamber’s Marmara Region Branch with the
support of POLİSAN
Paint.
Leading Italian industrial
designers Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda shared
“new models of life” based on their own research
and observations with the interior architects.
The two experts are also instructors at the Milano
Domus Academy. They presented examples of new
models that aim to remove the conventional borders
of living quarters. They emphasized the fact that
less furniture and greater mobility have become
more important in our lives and underlined the
fact that minimalist approaches would become more
popular.
At the seminar, speeches
were given by the Head of the Department of Industrial
Design at the Mimar Sinan University Prof. Önder
Küçükerman and Assistant Professor Babür Kerim
İncedayı who gives classes on design and interior
architecture at the Yeditepe and Haliç Universities.
They evaluated the trends foreseen in interior
architecture in the coming ten years both in Turkey
and internationally.
POLİSAN
Paint sponsored the Chamber of Interior Architects
25th Anniversary Events. General Manager Erol
Mizrahi stated that POLİSAN
is committed to protecting the environment and
public health, adding that the company aims to
create livable environments for consumers. Mizrahi
also stated that this seminar was proof of the
importance placed on communication with professionals
in the sector. He added that they planned to continue
this partnership via different projects in coming
years.
